With expertise in upper cervical and sub-axial cervical spine surgery, endoscopic and minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal deformities, infections, and pelvi-acetabular surgery, he is a leading figure in Nepal's orthopedic and spine surgery fields. Dr. Shrestha completed a Clinical Fellowship in Spine Surgery at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, further honing his specialized skills.
Dr. Shrestha has an impressive academic and professional portfolio, earning prestigious awards such as the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons International Emerging Leader Award (2018) and the Robert Ried Cervical Spine Fellowship (2013). He has been recognized internationally with fellowships from the Asia Pacific Spine Society and the International Group for Advancement of Spinal Sciences. An accomplished researcher, he has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, focusing on spine injuries, deformities, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Additionally, he has presented extensively at national and international conferences, furthering the understanding of complex spinal conditions.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Shrestha has made significant contributions to medical education and organizational leadership. He served as Associate Dean at Kathmandu University’s School of Medical Science and was Editor-in-Chief of the Kathmandu University Medical Journal and the Nepal Orthopedic Association Journal. He has also held roles such as Chairperson of institutional review and scientific committees. Dr. Shrestha’s global affiliations include memberships in esteemed organizations such as AO Spine Asia Pacific, the Asia Pacific Spine Society, and the Cervical Spine Research Society-Asia Pacific, cementing his status as a prominent figure in spine surgery.
